"My daughter was struggling to gain weight and her doctor mentioned "failure to thrive", Amy was there to support us both. I was an emotional wreck and she loved me through it. Which I needed so much at that time. She was gentle and caring. She provided me with the skills and tools I needed to help my baby and my supply. We still have work to do but my baby is now on track. I cannot recommend Amy enough. She saved my breastfeeding relationship and I am forever grateful." Nikki P.
I am THRILLED to announce my partnership with Dr. Elizabeth Dunlap at her new pediatric practice, Florence Park Pediatrics!
I will be teaching breastfeeding classes beginning September 28th and will have office hours to see Mamas and babies who need breastfeeding support.
In a relaxed, casual environment you and your partner will learn:
How hormones control the making and releasing of milk
How to achieve a "good latch" and why a proper latch is vital to breastfeeding success
Positioning and how to know if baby is thriving on your milk.
Common challenges will be addressed along with concrete solutions
You will become familiar with what to expect in the days, weeks and months following birth
Pumping, Bottles and Pacifiers... Oh my!
The lost art of hand expression- how to do it and why
This isn't 'just' a breastfeeding class. You will also learn about newborn instincts and behavior and how it all ties together so that you, your baby and your family are set up for a successful 4th trimester.
Who is this class for? Anyone who is planning/wanting to breastfeed their baby, anyone who is considering breastfeeding their baby but heard it's super difficult and painful and anyone who will be supporting a breastfeeding family.
When should you attend? Anytime in pregnancy is fine but 3rd trimester is ideal so that the information is fresh in your mind.
Will this be your 1st baby to breastfeed?
You and your partner will learn:
How hormones control the making and releasing of milk
Newborn instincts, reflexes and behaviors; including the 9 stages all babies go through in the first hour after birth
How to achieve a "good latch" and why a proper latch it vital to breastfeeding success
Common challenges will be addressed along with concrete solutions
You will become familiar with what to expect in the days, weeks and months following birth
Pumping- when, why and how
The lost art of hand expression- how to do it and why
Not your first go-around?
Have you experienced breastfeeding challenges in the past? Did you stop breastfeeding before your goal? Supplement with formula? Experience pain? Supply issues?
We will go over your previous experience(s) and identify possible root causes for common breastfeeding challenges/causes for stopping breastfeeding early and/or supplementing with formula.
We will pinpoint what worked, what didn't and how to best prepare for a new breastfeeding experience.
Your baseline understanding of the fundamental aspects of breastfeeding will be a starting point. Gaps will be filled and common misunderstandings explained.
Questions and concerns will be addressed as well as any anxieties or fears that you and your partner may have. This is especially important if your previous experience(s) were painful, stressful, traumatic and/or difficult.
You and your partner will gain a solid understanding of hormones, latch, positioning and what a thriving breastfeeding relationship looks like while creating a plan for success.

$60 for a 90 minute in-home session
First, we will chat on the phone about what's going on and I'll collect some information from you. In most cases, I can see you the same day. If this can not be achieved I will help you troubleshoot and offer suggestions to get you by until I am able to see you, typically within 24 hours.
You will be emailed an electronic intake-questionnaire. Complete this before our visit so that our time together can be focused on education & support, not paperwork.
During your lactation consult I will:
Observe a feeding at the breast. Evaluate and assess latch, positioning and baby's suck/swallow/breathe pattern. I will offer suggestions for deeper attachment and positioning while educating you on how to interpret baby's behavior at the breast.
I will provide you with a personalized care plan based on your unique circumstances and goals.
I will follow up with you the next day to check in on what's working and what's not and help troubleshoot over the phone.
